McHenry County
Painting and wallpaper in Lake in the Hills, IL
Lake in the Hills went from a small lake community to one of the fastest-growing villages in McHenry County in about fifteen years, and the housing shows it.
What comes through the phone here more than anywhere else is cabinets and trim. Not exteriors, not wallpaper. Cabinets and trim.

The part that actually matters
What we see in Lake in the Hills homes
When the houses here were built decides what fails, how long prep takes, and what a job costs. This is Lake in the Hills specifically, not a generic service area paragraph.
The bulk of the village was built in the same window as Algonquin, but the subdivision layouts here lean toward slightly smaller footprints and tighter lots, with vinyl siding and modest trim packages. Exterior paintable area per house is small.
Inside is where the work is. Honey oak cabinets, oak trim, oak stair parts and railings, six-panel stained doors, and builder flat paint on the walls. That combination is the signature of this generation of house and it is what people call us to change.
Cabinet work here is often a kitchen and a pair of bathrooms in the same visit, because the vanities came from the same builder line and look dated in exactly the same way. Doing them together saves a whole setup and spray booth cycle.
Stair railings and spindles are the other LITH specialty. They are high-touch, they are visible from the front door, and they take real prep to hold up to hands. We price them as their own line rather than folding them into the trim number, because they are slower per foot than baseboard.

Questions
Lake in the Hills questions we get
Can you do the kitchen and the bathroom vanities at the same time?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper that way. They came from the same builder package, so doing them in one setup saves labor you would otherwise pay twice.
How long are my cabinet doors off the boxes?
It depends on the finish and the schedule, and we will give you the actual window for your job at the walkthrough rather than a generic answer.
Can the stair railing be painted instead of stained?
Yes. It needs more prep than trim because hands are on it constantly, so we quote it separately instead of burying it in a per-foot trim number.
